We cannot escape from the reality of our physical compounds - total water consists nearly 65% of our body. The importance of water does not only affect our mortal existence, but also the pan-cultural significance of its spiritual capabilities. Thus the concept 'waterbody', fundamentally decides the design method of this project.
Both human and nature as micro and macro 'waterbodies' ought to find equilibrium. However pollution has stained a large portion of the hydrological history of Chicago city.
The site of this project is a cement factory, located at the edge of north branch Chicago River. From the site visits, this section of the river is apparently salinized by heavy metals contained in the process of cement production.
Thus, this project aims to redesign the silos of the factory into programs of public accessible hydrotherapy center as well as water gardens that draws Chicagoans' attention to the protection of its waterbody.
